Arsenal have reportedly joined Chelsea in the race to sign one of Brazil’s most exciting prospects, who currently holds the nickname of ‘Messinho’.

The Gunners are no strangers to the South American market, with sporting director Edu Gaspar using his contacts in the region to help the north London side to some big deals over the years, namely Gabriel Martinelli back in 2019.

With Arsenal yet to really find another success story having only since recruiting Marquinhos, fans will be hopeful that Edu can one day work his magic again in the upcoming summer transfer window.

Yet it appears that the Gunners might be doing just that.

Arsenal interested in signing Palmeiras wonderkid Estevao Willian

According to journalist Thiago Fernandes, the north London side have entered the race for Palmeiras wonderkid Estevao Willian, with the 17-year-old winger currently one of the biggest names in Brazil after a breakout year.

Lauded by Palmeiras’ head of youth Joao Paulo Sampaio as an ‘out-of-this-world’ talent, Estevao’s reputation is arguably only bested by Endrick’s in South America in regards to wonderkids currently playing their trade in Brazil.

With five goals and three assists already this season, it’s no real wonder why the likes of Arsenal are now taking an interest in signing Estevao, even if the Gunners will have to wait another year for the attacker to move to Europe.

However, given the hype and the interest surrounding Estevao, Arsenal would be wise to move for the attacker this summer, with Edu having the pulling power to make a deal possible ahead of rival clubs.

Arsenal need to move fast to sign Brazil’s next superstar

The race to sign the biggest and best thing from Brazil has increased in recent years, with Real Madrid setting the standards for what is needed to land these exciting talents with Chelsea going crazy in their pursuit for a top prospect.

As a result, Arsenal will need to move fast if they’re to sign Estevao in the next 12 months, with the Gunners a club that could do with a Brazilian wonderkid on their books heading into the next stage of their project.

Indeed, with Arsenal also in the market for a wide-attacker, Estevao ticks a lot of boxes for what Arsenal actually need in a forward signing, even it means paying a premium to recruit the Brazilian teenager.
