On September 28, 2002, when Arsene Wenger handed in his teamsheet ahead of a Premier League trip to Leeds United, he created a moment of English footballing history.

It may have read: Seaman, Lauren, Campbell, Cygan, Cole, Toure, Vieira, Gilberto, Wiltord, Henry, Kanu - but meant so much more. Nine of the 11 starters were black, which was the first time this had happened in an English top-flight match.

Some of the biggest names in our history took to the field that afternoon and sparkled, securing a 4-1 win thanks to a brace from Kanu and goals from Kolo Toure and Thierry Henry. And while the result and performance stood out, the landmark moment was also not lost on our supporters.

One in particular was touched that day, and in the video above, Scully talks about what that game meant to him as he identified with those players running out at Elland Road wearing our colours, and knew he would be a Gooner for life.

Watch as he talks us through that momentous moment two decades on.
