We're getting near the stage of the season in which three key areas of the Premier League table start to gain extra focus - that of the title race (heating up once again between usual suspects Manchester City and Liverpool), relegation battles at the bottom, and a top four race in which numerous teams still find themselves in with a chance. Not least Arsenal in the latter category, hungry for another shot at the Champions League; a competition that has eluded them in recent seasons.
Can Arsenal derail Liverpool's historic quadruple bid?
Arsenal of course boast arguably the most famous accolade in English football history - that of the 'Invincibles' team that went an entire Premier League season unbeaten on route to the title in 2003/04. Perhaps a close second to this was Manchester United's feat in winning the league/cup/Champions League treble in 1998/99. In 2022 however Jurgen Klopp's Liverpool side have found themselves in with a chance of eclipsing this achievement with the opportunity to win four major trophies still on the cards.
With work to do still to catch an impressive Manchester City above them in the table though, Liverpool know that they need to keep the wins coming for this to remain a possibility. Of the remaining fixtures, Arsenal away represent one of the biggest challenges standing in their way of doing this. Mikel Arteta's eager young team will aim not to make it easy for their opponents despite a less than impressive record against the bigger sides this season.
Top four spot in Arsenal's hands
There weren't many at the start of this season predicting Arsenal to finish above last year's runners up Manchester United and local rivals Tottenham Hotspur, after a disappointing few years. Yet with games in hand over other teams around them, the Gunners find themselves well placed to do just that.
With the youngest average squad in the Premier League as well, there is likely more to come from a team enjoying their football at the moment. Fans are eager to see how far they can go from here.
