We secured another vital win in the race for the Barclays FA Women’s Super League title on Sunday with a dominant 3-0 victory over Everton.
It was a night of celebrations too, as Jordan Nobbs and Beth Mead reached 50 goals in the competition, with the latter also becoming the all-time top assist provider with 36 to her name.
We made a fast start at Walton Hall Park and Stina Blackstenius looked to have opened the scoring on the half hour mark with a fine finish, only for her goal to be incorrectly ruled out for offside.
We didn’t allow that moment to kill our momentum, though, and with a stunning diagonal pass from Leah Williamson, Caitlin Foord was picked out inside the area and made no mistake in finding the bottom corner.
We continued to push on in search of a second before the break, but we were unable to provide the all-important finishing touch after creating two goalmouth scrambles.
Jonas Eidevall opted for a change after the restart with Mead shifting from right wing to centre forward, and his decision paid off almost instantly, with Vivianne Miedema teeing up our No 9 to fire home from close range for her 50th goal in the competition.
We weren’t done there, though, as substitute Jordan Nobbs combined with Mead to score our third of the evening, playing a quick one-two before rifling the ball into the roof of the net.
