Did you know that Everton v Arsenal was the first ever football game to be televised?
Way back on 29 August 1936, our match against our weekend opponents was the very first to be selected for television coverage by the BBC.
This match against Arsenal at Highbury was not broadcast live, but it did see Dixie Dean and Alex Stevenson score for the Blues in a narrow defeat...
The BBC used this match as an experiment ahead of the opening of its Television Service later that year, and the match reached 20,000 homes situated around Alexandra Palace, the home of the BBC's TV station.
The match was deemed a success by the BBC, leading to that season's FA Cup final being broadcast live. Another moment of history made by Everton Football Club.
